“Game of Thrones” star Alfie Allen and “Friday Night Lights” star Adrianne Palicki are among the new cast additions to Keanu Reeves-led assassin thriller “John Wick,” according to Deadline. Michael Nyqvist and Dean Winters have also joined the cast, co-led by Willem Dafoe.
Reeves plays the titular John Wick, an ex-hitman who goes after the guy that stole his car and killed his beloved dog. The thief turns out to be the son of a major New York crime boss, who in return hires Dafoe’s hitman character to kill Wick. Ouch, because the two used to be good friends but now have to “Mr & Mrs Smith” each other. Chad Stahelski & David Leitch are directing from a screenplay by Derek Kolstad, and there are no details on roles for the new cast additions just yet.
Allen plays Theo Greyjoy on HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” now heading into its fourth season. Aside from indies, his notable film roles include “The Other Boleyn Girl” and “Atonement.” Palicki played Tyra on critically acclaimed NBC series “Friday Night Lights” and was Lady Jaye in last summer’s “G. I. Joe: Retaliation.”
The two releases will be available for purchase online and in stores across the nation on July 30th.

It revolves around three budies who lounge at the titular coffee shop every time they want. One of them, Will who is a website manager, even considers the cafe as his office.
When the owners of the shop discuss plans to convert Coffee Town into a bar, Will fears that he’ll lose his office and a chance to meet a girl whom he has been courting. In an attempt to save his freeloading existence, Will enlists the help of his two best friends Chad and Gino to stage a robbery to create the illusion of an unsafe neighborhood not suitable for the proposed venue.
The comedy film is the first theatrical movie by the famous comedy website, CollegeHumor, and marks Brad Copeland’s directorial debut. Glenn Howerton, Steve Little and Ben Schwartz star as the three best buddies. Adrianne Palicki is cast as Becca, Will’s love interest, and Josh Groban plays a disgruntled barista with delusions of grandeur-he wants to be a rock star.
The meter’s officially running on “Dr. Cabbie,” the latest film from “Breakaway” writer/star Vinay Virmani and Quebecois director Jean-Francois Pouliot.
About a young Indian doctor who immigrates to Canada only to discover his degree isn’t recognized, the film stars Virmani as Deepak, who finds another way to put his medical skills to good use: open a mobile clinic out of the back of a cab. And with shooting currently underway in and around Toronto, Moviefone Canada was able to go behind the scenes and visit the set, where we caught up with the cast and crew to uncover more details about the upcoming comedy.
Pouliot was just as excited about his actors, saying, “Adrianne Palicki, never would’ve thought that we would’ve been able to get a star like that. And Rizwan [Manji] and Kunal, I mean, all these guys … they’re comedic machines, they have a sense of timing that’s amazing.”
Fresh off “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” and playing Deepak’s love interest Natalie, it was that comedic element that drew Palicki, who said, “The fact that you just have this really earnest character who’s doing these things that are kind of ridiculous keeps it light and funny. And then you have characters like Kunal’s character, Tony, who’s just an idiot. They just keep you laughing the entire movie.”
Now there’s a short teaser for the David E. Kelley show (and I mean SHORT), because there is still hope that another network (may I suggest The CW) might want to give it a shot. The series features (featured) Adrianne Palicki as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince, Elizabeth Hurley as the baddie, and Cary Elwes as the hapless CEO of Prince’s Themyscira Industries.
The tease is literally six seconds long, featuring a brief glimpse of both a fiercely walking Wonder Woman and the potential logo for the series. It’s not exactly the kind of thing that would inspire a network to send a dump-truck of cash to Kelley’s door, but perhaps it can at least spark some more (and positive) buzz? We’ll see. Take a look, tell us what you think.
EW.com was kind enough to give us a heads up to the very first photo released of Adrianne as Wonder Woman. My jaw literally dropped when I saw Adrianne! She looks fantastic and I can’t wait to see more of what’s to come! Here’s the photo below, I’ll add it to the gallery later on this week sometime. What are your thoughts and opinions? Personally, I can’t wait!
“Red Dawn” Villains Changed From Chinese to North Korean
The Los Angeles Times reports that MGM is changing the villains in Red Dawn from Chinese to North Korean in order to maintain access to the country’s lucrative box office.
Dan Bradley directed the remake, which stars Chris Hemsworth, Josh Peck, Josh Hutcherson, Adrianne Palicki, Isabel Lucas, Connor Cruise and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. The studio is currently looking for a distributor to release the film.
The newspaper says the changes will cost less than $1 million and will “involve changing an opening sequence summarizing the story’s fictional backdrop, re-editing two scenes and using digital technology to transform many Chinese symbols to Korean.” They added that it will be impossible to eliminate all references to China in the movie.
“We were initially very reluctant to make any changes,” said producer Tripp Vinson, “But after careful consideration we constructed a way to make a scarier, smarter and more dangerous ‘Red Dawn’ that we believe improves the movie.”
“MGM has been working with the film ‘Red Dawn’s’ director and producers to make the most commercially viable version of the film for audiences worldwide,” said Mike Vollman, executive vice president of worldwide marketing. “We want to ensure the most people possible are able to experience it.”
In Red Dawn, an American city awakens to the surreal sight of foreign paratroopers dropping from the sky – shockingly, the U.S. has been invaded and their hometown is the initial target. Quickly and without warning, the citizens find themselves prisoners and their town under enemy occupation. Determined to fight back, a group of young patriots seek refuge in the surrounding woods, training and reorganizing themselves into a guerilla group of fighters. Taking inspiration from their high school mascot, they call themselves the Wolverines, banding together to protect one another, liberate their town from its captors, and take back their freedom.
The “Friday Night Lights” star will play the lead in David E. Kelley’s reinvention of the iconic DC Comics character.
Friday Night Lights star Adrianne Palicki is the new Wonder Woman.
The actress has been cast as the title character in Wonder Woman, David E. Kelley’s pilot for NBC.
The project, from David E. Kelley Prods. and Warner Bros. TV — is a reinvention of the iconic DC Comics title in which Wonder Woman, a.k.a. Diana Prince, is a vigilante crime fighter in Los Angeles but also a successful corporate executive and a modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life.
Kelley and Bill D’Elia (Boston Legal, The Practice) are executive producing. The pilot was written by Kelley and will be directed by Jeffrey Reiner (The Event).
Palicki, who appeared as Tyra Collete in the NBC/DirecTV series Friday Night Lights, stars in the upcoming Red Dawn. Her most recent series regular role was Fox’s short-lived Texas-set drama Lone Star, which aired only two episodes last fall.
Palicki is repped by UTA, Anonymous Content and attorney David Fox.
